Hello! My name is Evangeline, but my friends call me Banjo. Before moving to Michigan, my family used to live on the beautiful island of Samoa in the South Pacific. I am a quarter Samoan, I love to play volleyball, and I love surf shirts! I decided to create my own line of surf shirts named after a surfing village in Samoa called Solosolo. (Solo means wipe and solosolo means towels, haha. Every surfer wipes out sometime and needs a towel!)
I just started 9th grade (this pic was my first day of school, holding up 9 fingers for 9th grade and repping my Solosolo brand). I am the starting setter on the Freshman volleyball team. It was a long road to get here. At the end of my 7th grade club season, in the last tournament of the year, I ruptured my ACL and slightly tore my meniscus while running after a ball for game point. I had to have surgery to clean up the meniscus tear and to graft part of my quad tendon to be used as my new ACL. I have a large scar above my left knee that represents this long road of recovery. It took a full year of physical therapy to be cleared to play volleyball again. I used to be an outside hitter, but while I couldn’t play, I could still sit and set. Practicing setting so much is what helped me become the starting setter on my freshman team. I am so excited that I am able to play volleyball again and I hope to one day receive a scholarship to play in college.
As this is my first business venture, to keep costs down, we purchase supplies only after receiving orders, so it takes about 7-10 business days to create your custom product.
All purchases will help fund my volleyball equipment and club expenses. I am so grateful for your support!
Fa’afetai tele lava (that means thank you so much in Samoan)!
